Field or sector:

Parish and community-based leadership-training

Project Title:

Growing together – forming leaders

Background and reason for the project:

Mozambique is a land of warrior people who seek to grow; these people who, after having learned about suffering in their lives, wish to fight to conquer their dreams. Mozambique has undergone great societal and socioeconomic changes that have both benefits and drawbacks. The negative aspects include a loss of values and the depreciation of life and culture. The social gap increases between the rich and the poor. With this gap comes a lack of land and opportunity for all. Poverty and misery have increased. The people need ways to develop consciousness of the reality and a critical spirit to enter into it. Thus, the people in their beautiful fight, will maintain the dignity of the less fortunate.

The sisters, aware of this reality, dream of making a difference by creating a training program. The sisters believe that to train, to educate, to develop and to promote, are verbs that lead them to believe in the potential of every human being. The sisters have many opportunities to help the people to develop higher quality and greater efficiency. Thus, through support groups, the sisters propose to create means for the development of the people.

The project is based on an element of charisma Salvatorian - ADVERTISE, or gain strength in the wise words of Pope Francis: "No one wins alone, neither in the field nor in life. We need each other, by living, by knowledge, by personal presence or financial help... When we set out to make a difference and join hands, we all win, and society takes on a new stance, gradually creating a world again that is made possible from our attitudes."

Strongly motivated, the sisters send this proposal and seek to raise funds to implement the project of continuing education for the leaders that make up the ecclesial communities located where the Sisters of the Divine Savior in Mozambique reside.
