The Salvatorian Sisters support landless families in São Cristóvão do Sul/SC, Brazil, in a settlement called ‘Filhos do Contestado’. There live 25 families who have been given a piece of land that they work to provide their families with the necessities of life and also to raise awareness of organic, healthy farming and food production.  Foodstuffs such as vegetables and potatoes are already being grown without the use of pesticides. These project started in 2022 and has developed well.

The aim of the project is to support the families in the settlement in expanding the community gardens and to distribute seedlings to other families by setting up the tree nursery.

For the year 2024-2025, the families are planning to plant an orchard with peaches, plums, oranges and medicinal plants, the yields of which they want to share with other poorer people.

In order to continue the existing project and to buy the necessary materials and plants, seedlings and trees for the expansion, the Salvatorian Sisters, together with the families, need a total of 2.500,00 euros.
