Vocational Training Centre

The school has a shortage of workshop rooms and tools. Most of the young people who want to join the Centre are coming from certain poor families. School fees from the parents are not sufficient for running the centre as well  building  the workshop providing tools and other equipment that is needed.

The aim of the financial support is to improve the quality of training courses. The boys and girls are thus offered the chance of a good vocational training that enhances their skills and enables them to find long-term employment and therefore a secure future.

Beneficiaries are 23 young people. We are looking for sponsors for the proportionate training costs of a total of 18 boys in the carpentry workshop and 5 girls in the sewing school.

That makes a sum of 23 x 140 euro per year.
Total costs are around 3.330 euros.

Before the establishment of Lupaso Vocation Training Centre (VTC) in 2003, the centre was formally known as Lupaso Domestic School and was exclusively for girls. Now there are offered workshops for both girls and boys, like Carpentry, Tailoring, Masonry, Electrical installation and Computer Course.

These courses provide a wide choice for the youths in the sphere of self-employment. The VTC is situated 45 kms from Masasi town, a rural area surrounded by five villages. The people living in these villages mostly are very poverty-stricken families. There is low employment, the food they harvest is regular for their personal needs. It can be observed a lack of education because of poverty.

Despite of the difficulties faced in running the centre, there is a good and growing number of youths who are ready to join but not all of them can be enrolled.
